Favorite 262 to 356 albums with comments

Couldn't get these 12 new listings on the other blog so here they are then  262 to 356.
Ends with list by title of draft version of this list, that is when it went to about 300.

53/1 Girlpool - s/t 7 song EP L.A. 2014 Two gals, guitar and bass.  Often
dual vocals.   Seemingly very personal lyrics.  Great to hear something
new that's also high quality.  Saw 'em live this year, 30 minutes of energy,
musical determination  and a real pair of musicians made for a memorable
evening. There's only a  single problem with this record, it's too short, 15
minutes.  But, it is an EP.

110a/ The Slits – Peel Sessions UK 1977 thru 1981.  They didn’t release their first album
till 1979 with precious little prior to that like a 7”, maybe two.  The Peel sessions
they did, the 1977 one in particular then the second one, captured them in all their
intense female punk rock glory in a way they were not otherwise recorded.  Their
post Cut lp material begins to get bogged down with too much experimental reggae.
A good exploration of it but nothing super high quality like their early punk days and
    the Cut lp.

143/8 Gang of Four – The Peel Sessions from 1979 thru 1981 released 1990.  11 songs.
It’s like an alternative hits album.  Not all Peel Sessions are much more than a
slavish imitation of the studio songs but this is what Peel really is when it’s special,
the band playing many of their best songs and this is probably from 3 separate Peel
sessions, and the band plays it like it’s live in the studio, that is, the songs sound
great but different than the released album versions.  As a big fan of Gang of Four,
particularly their incredible debut lp Entertainment and then the next 2 eps, this
    record is invaluable.

144/8 The Dirtbombs - We Have You Surrounded 2008 Detroit.  Two
drummers  two bassist (one fuzz bass).  Mick Collins singing and guitar.
First 5 songs are a perfect EP.  Rest of the album hit and miss.  For me
this is their best album.  I didn't hear them till 2015 tho they been around
since about 1997.  Had my 6 cd car player full of their 5 albums and the
2xcd If You Don't which is their collected 7"s and more.  Dirty sound.
Great love song on here but too harsh for my wife to even listen to.  I
keep listening to see how the 2nd drummer and 2nd bassist add to the
sound. It’s hard to say but if you listen to the Gories or Blacktop, Mick’s
prior bands with one each you can hear why he’s dedicated to this format.

165a/ The Dirtbombs – Horndog Fest 1997 Detroit My second favorite album by them
with several Dirtbomb style hits.  It’s a dirty band, dirt woven into the DNA of their
    sound.  Fun.  Addicting.

170a/ I Refuse It! – Cronache del videotopo: IRI 1982-1987 A greatest hits or more
accurately, a (nearly?) full discography release of one of the very rare HC bands
that has a keyboard and some sorta synthesizer and it works perfectly with the
classic Italian punk rock.  They even do a song of a bomb exploding, impossible
without such instruments and done to perfection.

224a/ Andre Williams – is the Black Godfather Executive Producer Mick Collins 2000
    backed on different songs by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion; The Countdowns;
Compulsive Gamblers; The Dirtbombs and Cheater Slicks.  What this really is is a
greatest hits of Detroit’s classic Dirty sound.  Andre is the historical musical force
for getting them together to make an album with him with bands behind him that
successfully match his style.  But the galvanizing force here is Mick Collins.  He’s
got his sound all over this thing.  Given how old Andre is here, and I got nuttin’
against age, or even old singers, Alberta Hunter in her 80’s and Johnny Cash near the
end of his life were both singing the best I’d ever heard them sing, from their age.
But the bands here far surpass Andre who’s hangin’ on for dear life with his schtick
from his past glory days.  It’s nice to see the bands and In the Red records, home
to the Dirty sound, honor Andre with this album.  I’d just as soon hear it with his
vocals removed the bands are so great.  Still, whether the bands have black or
white people in them or whatever, I feel black when I listen to it, immersed in a
sound that’s pure Detroit and nowhere else on earth.

226a/12 The Cure greatest hits.  About 2009? They had like 2 different
greatest hits albums from their first period then their second.  This
merges them nicely.  Very radio friendly.  Lotta fun to listen to.  Coupla
songs near the end sorta lose steam but the hits are  like eating candy.

228a/12 The Clash – Super Black Market Clash 1993 UK expansion on the 1980
release of non Lp tracks.  Lot more flavor of reggae style Clash songs than is on
their albums.  Makes for a very fine stand alone Clash album especially after they
expanded the Black Market Clash release of 1980 with more songs to make it Super.

230a/12 Peggio Punx Discography Italy their music from 1981 through 1989.  Classic
Italian Hardcore with a very unique feverish mandolin type sound.  Some weak
live recording wise on here but all their records are here especially the classic lst
     2 7”s.

262/15 Someone Got Their Head Kicked In - California w/ Battalion of
       Saints, Youth Brigade + 1982 - - 152 12  Another in a series of
many classic punk rock comps.  Very well done.  The nature of
punk rock is it’s common for punk labels to be done by punx and
it’s common to release an album (vinyl, cassette in the 80’s or cd)
of just 500 to 1000 or a few thousand, and it’s essentially a sampler.
A good way to hear new groups.  Not everyone is skilled at only
putting good songs on a sampler.  This one does.

263/15 We're the Meatmen and you suck! - U.S. 1982? - - 158 9 Another
amazing debut lp.  They fell off a cliff after this.  And their 7"
before this was maybe even more killer than the lp.  Hilarious
sarcastic punk rock with strong songs.

264/15 Talking Heads - Talking Heads: 77 - U.S. 1977 - 290 164 9 Another
amazing debut lp.  Their other lps are nice but this one really gets
it together with the full impact of their sound which was new at the
       time, a unique geek vocals.

265/15 Cleanse the Bacteria lp + 12" - U.S. w/ Septic Death +
       1985 - - 184 9  Again, a classic comp, this time with a gold yellow
12" with it, both, together made for a buncha great hc songs.
High quality comp that stands the test of time musically.

266/15 Vatican Commandos - Point Me to the End - U.S. 1982? - - 165 12
Another amazing debut lp (12").  Real punk rock, a compliment to
their 2 7"s that they released before this.  Together the 3 releases
would make one outstanding early 80's U.S. punk/hc cd.

267/15 Big Boys - Fun Fun Fun 12" - Texas 1980? - - 166 10 Another
amazing debut lp (12").  Nobody ever did what they did, mixing
punk and funk perfectly and they did it better on this 12" than
they ever did on any other release.

268/15 Stalag 13 - in control - L.A. 1981? - - 168 11 Another amazing debut
(their only) lp.  Classic L.A. sounding early 80's punk rock.

269/15 Stark Raving Mad - Amerika - ? 1984? - - 169 25 Another amazing
debut lp.  Solid hc.  I think they were from NY.

270/15 The Doors - L.A. Woman - L.A. 1971 - 362 170 4  A real favorite of
mine as a teenager in the last 60's, early 70's.  I still can't figure out
how they sucessfully replaced a guitar with a keyboard.  Maybe
cuz Ray Mazarack had the ability to not be too organy or
otherwise typically annoying keyboard sounding.  Course, Jim
Morrison's vocals were one of the best in rock.

271/15 Faith/Void - DC 1982? - - 171 7 Not a true lp, a split.  I don't know
why I don't have more split lps on this list cuz punk rock has also
been a watershed of split releases.  I don't know if I can think of a
single one on a rock or other music major label cuz for them it's
all about business.  For punk it's just getting yer music out there
and cooperating for a split or on comps is natural vs competing
for radio air play or who will get signed by the major label which
metal and rock bands have done for decades and continue to
(except some nice indie rock bands who have come up through
the punk philosophy like those typically written about and
       interviewed in Big Takeover).

272/15 Joni Mitchell - Miles of Asiles live 1974 - U.S. - - 2xlp 174 33
Always did have a soft spot for this lp.  Actually, my wife and I
saw her life in the early 80's and it was like a fairy full of light
and beauty singing strong songs unaffected by the passing
       of the hippy era.

273/16 The Undertones - Positive Touch - Ireland 1981 - - 175 11  Some
punx can't stand any Undertones after the first 2 lps but I love
this band, even the fourth lp.  There's 2 other lps they've
released after that.  Anyone got a copy?  Their strong song
writing continues here but it's a less dynamic, hard presentation
than the first 2 classic lps.

274/16 Fartz - World Full of Hate - U.S. 1980? - - 176 9 Another amazing
debut (their only) lp.  Pure Californian early early hc.  Possibly
the first hc album.  Portland I believe.  Incredible.

275/16 Grito Suburbano - Brasil w/ Olho Seco, Inocentes, Colera +
       1982 - - 178 9  An outstanding collection of Brasilian punk rock/
hc.  If you just get one Brasilian record, this is it.  Pretty much
all the classic Brasilian hc punk rock bands are here.

276/16 Johnny Cash - Cash American Recordings IV - U.S. 2003 - 180  My
most recent release on this list.  Thank goodness Ric Rubin
hooked up with him, telling him to just bring his voice and his
guitar.  No fancy stuff to commercialize him.  He does that Irish
wake song and it's got a church organ accompanying him.  He
sounds perfect when he finally got as old as an old man.  If
country western sounded as satisfying as these songs, I'd be
a country fan.  Instead, it's just mostly musical garbage.

277/16 Outo - first lp - Japan 1988? - - 181 7 Another amazing debut lp.
Another Japanese late 80's classic lp.  It's like a group of 6 or so
of them, Lip Cream, Deathside, Deathless Muss, Systematic Death.

278/16 Deathside - Wasted Dreams - Japan 1989? - - 182 10 Another
amazing debut lp.  More like Outo, Systematic Death, Rose Rose...

279/16 Condemned to Death - Diary of a Love Monster - U.S. 1984
       - - 183 14 Another amazing debut (their only) lp.  This and their
ep before this were collectable for some reason early on in punk
rock.  One reason for collectability is the music is great.  Always
a factor.  Mostly punx just collect cuz you can't get hold of the
music easily at the big business record store or hear it on the
radio and so much punk is limited release cuz it's DIY.

280/16 Battalion of Saints - Fighting Boys 12" - San Diego 1983?
       - - 185 13 Another amazing debut lp (12").  Mad Marc Rude did
the unforgetable detailed lp cover art.  R.I.P.  The Bats put
San Diego on the punk rock map.

*281/16 Otis Redding - Dreams to Remember: The Otis Redding Anthology
       - U.S. 1998 1962-1967? 147 189 21 Not a true lp but a gathering of
his better songs.  I don't know if he did any killer complete lps but
he sure has some songs that are pure R&B perfection.  He was
way more than a one hit wonder and did a very energetic live set.

282/16 The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed - UK 1969 - 32 190 9 Another lp
that was everywhere when I was in high school.  I thought they
captured their live sound and spirit wonderfully on this lp.

283/16 Santana - Lotus - Tijuana/S.F. 1974 - - 3xlp 191 26 Probably not a
commonly heard lp since 3xlp sets didn't sell as well back in the
day and it was a Japanese import only.  Their best live lp coming
just after the only great lps they did, their first 3, till 25 years later.
This one's particularly worth it because the vocalist is above
adequate, not ruining the songs like many of the Santana lps
after this did and the latin rock jamming is something you rarely
       hear.

284/17 The Stooges - Raw Power - U.S. 1973 - 125 196 33 A known classic
lp.  Fittingly known as the grandfather of punk (godfather?  not as
true really) cuz this is actually a punk album.  It cuts to the power
and passion and raw feeling that has always attracted me to punk.

285/17 David Bowie - Young Americans - UK 1975 - - 197 9 This lp swept
me away in the 70's.  I couldn't get enough of it.  Haven't heard it
in 20 years.  Wonder if it stands the test of time?

286/17 The Stooges - The Stooges - U.S. 1969 - 185 198 34 Another
amazing debut lp.  Thank you Iggy and the brothers.  Thanks
for not ODing on heroin.  Thanks for blazing a needed trail that
ended up being punk rock.  Thanks for some of the best live
shows ever cuz of your voice, that killer voice, and your ADD
       energy.

287/17 Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food - U.S.
       1978 - 382 199 8 Well, I liked this when it came out.  Haven't heard
it in 20 years.  Stand the test of time?  The first 4 lps were good.
I prefer their pre rydim' years though I saw them live in '81 with
all those extra musicians and it rocked/swung.  By this lp they
still retained their early somewhat stark sound.  The
       intellectual semi-punk band.

288/18 The Clash - Sandanista! - UK (3xlp) 1980 - 404 159 10  I believe this
was their last great release and it coulda been a 2xlp rather than 3
as some songs feel fairly indulgent.  This should be lower than 169,
too many weak/indulgent songs.  Should have been 2 lps, not 3.

289/18 Second Wind - security LP - DC 1984 - - 202 10 Another amazing
debut (their only) lp.  If you love Minor Threat this lp is really like
an extra lp of them with only a smidgen less of high quality, as the
vocalist is Ian's brother and it's a D.C. band.  Very tasty punk.
Likely, another not-heard-enough punk record by punx.

*290/18 Black Randy and the Metrosquad - Pass the Dust, I Think I'm
       Bowie - L.A. 1979? - - 203 14 Another amazing debut (their only)
lp.  Why didn't they do any more than this?  That's a real shame.
Sorta James Chance on the West Coast.  Full bodied funky punk.

291/18 David Bowie - Changesone - U.S. 1976 1970-1976? 425 204 11 Not a
true lp but a greatest hits although it always played like a 'meant to
be lp' to me and was another ubiquitous album.  I'm not sure if I
can even listen to more than 1 or 2 songs from his last 10 lps but
that 70's stuff was just right.

292/18 Bush Tetras - Better Late Than Never - NY 1983 1980-1983 - 205 16
Not a true lp but an anthology of their releases.  Three gals and a
guy on drums (like Bikini Kill).  The musical parents of Bikini Kill.
Few female driven modern rock bands in the U.S.  Several in the
UK.  Funk punk with definite female perspective lyrics.  Great.

293/18 The Who - Live at Leeds - UK 1970 - 170 206 20  I believe I prefer
the later released expanded version.  I'm not sure I like much of
their material after the early 70's.  This gig captures them at their
        musical peak or slightly after.

*294/19 The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet - UK 1968 - 57 211 14 Also
a great lp by them.  Not too early.  They had their hardiness by
this lp.  And some of them weren't even dead.

*295/20 Ray Charles - The Birth of Soul: The Complete Atlantic Rhythm &
       Blues Recordings, - UK 1991 1952-1959 53 212 12 Not a true lp but
a collection of songs from many lps.  That early stuff has some
amazing songs on it.  "I'm gonna go down to the river and drown
myself."  Man, some of the best songs ever from this period.

296/20 Ray Charles - The Genius of Ray Charles - UK 1959 - 213 215 7
As I recall, this is a very solid album.  Merging gospel, r&b and jazz
with a soulful voice that just rocked.

297/20 Bad Brains - Rock for Light - NY 1983 - - 214 14 Ric Ocask sucked
a bit of the life outta them on this lp making the production just
too clean.  But it is their second best lp.  No one really has one
better than their first lp, including them.  Still, solid songs that
punk rock nicely with more fine, lively reggae.

*298/20 The Rolling Stones - Out of Our Heads - UK 1965 - 114 215 25
I was surprised when I heard this lp.  It rocks better than I
       imagined it might.

299/21 Van Halen - Van Halen - L.A. 1978 - 415 217 15 Another amazing
debut lp.  I remember when this came out it swept the land.  Fit
right into the fabric of rock America.  And deservingly so.  David
Lee Roth was the perfect front man for them.

300/21 Monterey Pop comp S.F./U.S./UK w/ Ravi Shankar, Jimi Hendrix,
     Janis Joplin, The Who, Mamas & the Papas, + 1967 - - 151 7  This
is almost not as great as the movie.  Seeing these live performances
live really enhances the music.  But this lp still has classic songs
from that first U.S. rock festival ever.  Jimi at one of his peaks,
Otis Redding giving an unforgettable performance and Ravi
being the surprise foundational performance of the weekend.

*301/22 Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From the First Psychedelic
       Era - U.S. 1972 1965-1968 196 218 25 Not a true lp.  Ok, ok, I admit
it, I've never heard this lp.  What I'm looking for is psychedelic
hippy music and I assume it's on here.  There's tons of such
comps and you never know if they rock or not.  Same as 60's
punk comps.  Often most of the record is rubbish.

*302/22 The Velvet Underground -  White Light/White Heat - NY
     1967 - 292 219 26 Another amazing debut lp.  I'm sorry I discounted
this group for as long as I did.  I wish I'd turned onto them when
they came out.  I finally heard them when I was buying cheap used
records in the early 70's and didn't think much of them and when
that happens to me, after just listening to a quick sampling of the
record, I can be quick to dismiss a group.  I erred in this case.
Colin played me some of their 60's stuff on a drive to L.A. and I
was impressed how much it fit right in with modern harsh punk
rock without the common patterns often found in punk after the
early 80's because, of course, this stuff was made in the 60's.

303/22 The Who - Quadrophenia - UK (2lp) 1973 - 266 220 26 I really
don't like Tommy.  But this lp, another one in household after
household, always had something musically attractive about it.

304/22 The Police - Outlandos d'Amour - UK/U.S. 1978 - 434 222 12
Another amazing debut lp.  A rare perfect lp.  I used to love the
Police and I find they haven't stood the test of time as much as I
expected they would.  Still, strong drumming and well formed
       songs.

305/22 The Pretenders - Pretenders - UK 1980 - 155 223 39 Another
amazing debut lp.  Finally, a strong female git/vocals lead.

-Lps from here are less than amazing but still wonderful, in some
substantial way:

306/22 Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark - U.S. 1972? - 111 226 23 Haven't
heard this lp in over 25 years.

307/22 The Beatles - Please Please Me - UK 1963 - 39 227 17 Really, there's
       no bad Beatles lp.

308/22 Joni Mitchell - Blue - U.S. 1971 - 30 228 32 Haven't heard this lp in
       25 years.

309/22 Steely Dan - Aja - U.S. 1977 - 145 229 15 I'm not sure why I have
this on here except I respect it.  Ok, in the 70’s and early 80’s I
thought it was a perfec t album.  I should revisit it.  My wife loves it.

310/22 The Doors - Strange Days - L.A. 1967 - 407 230 19 They made
classic records, though the hits stood out better, generally,
than the full lps.  I keep forgetting this is a band without a
guitarist.  How can keyboards replace the guitar?  They do,
        obviously, successfully.

311/22 The Doors - The Doors - L.A. 1967 - 42 231 19 Another amazing
debut lp. Who wrote these songs?  Nice stuff.  I read that Jim
Morrison would come and say things about a song he was writing
and the band would bring into musical existence what he was hearing
or telling about hearing in his head.

312/22 Van Morrison - Astral Weeks - ? 1968 - 19 232 18 A rock classic.

313/23 GBH - City Baby Attacked by Rats - UK 1980? - - 233 24 A punk
classic.  Maybe more GBH t-shirts than any other group back in
the early 80's, least in San Diego.

314/23 Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto Featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim -
       Getz/Gilberto ? 1964 - 454 235 17 That special samba or whatever
it is sound from Brasil.  I love the vocals.  Great kick back music.

315/23 David Bowie - Station to Station - UK 1976 - 323 236 10  This lp
drove me nuts in the 70's.  Haven't heard it since.

316/23 David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
     and the Spiders From Mars - UK 1972 - 35 237 18 It's not actually
that great an lp as I recall.  Some great songs.

317/23 David Bowie - Station to Station - UK 1976 - 323 238 19 Another
Bowie lp that was a big part of my musical life in the 70's.

318/24 Bob Dylan and the Band - The Basement Tapes - U.S.
       (2lp) 1975 1967 291 239 30 Not a true lp but an archival release of
music that was apparently never intended as a release but there
were so many bootlegs of it they did anyway.  This is my favorite
Bob Dylan record.  It's got everything that's great between him
and the Band.  There's something very organic about the sound.
It reminds me, in flavor, of Derek and the Dominoes (Eric Clapton
asked if he could play guitar with the Band) and the Allman
       Brothers.

319/24 James Brown - Live at the Apollo - U.S. 1963 - 24 240 9 Live he's
amazing and in 1963 he had his youth.  Glad this is well known.

320/24 Funeral Oration - Communion - Netherlands 1985 - - 241 20
Another amazing debut lp.  What's actually better than this is
their first 2 demos which were only released on tape.  Now that's
classic unique sounding punk rock.  This band, like no other,
became slightly more poppy and accessable with every single
release.   Meanwhile, if you ain't heard 'em, they make a sound
       that is completely their own.

321/24 Larm - Straight on View - ? 1983? - - 242 21 Another amazing debut
lp. Classic punk rock.  One of the best known non UK foreign hc
       bands in the U.S.

322/25 Bob Dylan - Greatest Hits - U.S. 1967 1964-1966 - 244 27 Not a true
lp, a greatest hits, even then, I only really like some of the songs
and only have this on here at all cuz I really liked the lp in the 70's
but I can barely listen to it today 'cept for those hits.

323/25 Bob Dylan - More Bob Dylan Greatest Hits - U.S.  (2lp) 1972
       1967-1972? - 245 26 Not a true lp but his second greatest hits.  I
always thought of this as a companion release to the first hits lp.

*324/25 The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers - UK 1971 - 63 246 20 Back
when the next lp they released was still something to look forward
       to.

325/25 Modert Likvidation - discography. 1983?-86?  Not a real lp but, well, a
discorgraphy.  Swedish? Classic HC.  Real fun.

*326/25 Al Green - Greatest Hits - U.S. 1975 1970-1974 52 247 30 Not a true
lp, greatest hits only cuz I never knew of a great lp of his and have
       loved some of his songs.

327/26 The Who - Who's Next - UK 1971 - 28 249 27 Another lp that was
in the home of every teenager I ever went to in the 70's.

328/27 B.B. King - Live in Cook County Jail - U.S. 1970 - - 250 15 I always
preferred this lp to any other he did, not that I heard all his other
lps.  Somethin' about his live presentation.  I got to see him live
two times and he was very satisfying both times.

*329/27 Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - Going to a Go-Go - Detroit
       1965 - 271 251 28 I haven't actually heard this particular lp, I
confess.  However, I really respect this guy and the band and I'll
go with Rolling Stones' qualified rock song selectors of it cuz he
and the band did some amazing tunes back in the day.

*330/27 Diana Ross and the Supremes - Anthology - Detroit  2001 1960's
       431 252 29 Not a true lp, an anthology.  Again, I haven't heard
this particular lp and I probably never heard a single full lp of
theirs but I was sure impressed with them in the 60's and 70's.
Though I've had no interest in listening to them since.

331/27 Cheap Trick - At Budokan - U.S. 1979 - 450 253 27 There's a
release of this lp that has more of that gig's tracks.  I don't
think I have it.  Maybe the most exciting live rock lp ever.
Their hits are terrific, classic pop rock without bein' wimpy.

332/27 Sly and the Family Stone - Greatest Hits - U.S. 1970 1966-1970?
       60 255 37 Not a true lp, a greatest hits.  Ok, ok, I've never
heard this lp either, but I've heard probably all their hits and
back in the day thought they were great, full of energy tho
I haven't listened to them since back in the day.

333/27 Manic Hispanic – Mijo goes to Jr. College 2000? L.A.  They have
maybe five albums.  This may be as good as the others.
They still can’t get the magic of their AWESOME live shows onto
vinyl/cd.  In fact, as far as I know, they’ve never released a live
album or dvd.  A shame.  Vato humor on the songs of classic
punk songs from the late 70’s and early 80’s done tight as a drum.
Their humor, if you don’t know, is exemplified by the fact that there’s
a classic punk album by the Descendents called, Milo goes to College.

334/28 Fleetwood Mac - Rumours - U.S. 1977 - 25 257 7 Why is this
on here?  I did like it when it came out.  Another rock lp in
everyone's house that I knew.  Their peak.

335/28 Devo Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! - U.S. 1978
       - 447 258 14 Another amazing debut lp. Their best lp.  It had
a real impact on punk and New Wave and, eventually, on
actual rock.  I thought it was great when it came out but
I've lost interest in their music for 20 years now.

336/28 Cheap Trick - In Color - U.S. 1977 - 448 259 16 Their best non
live lp, full of their hits.

337/28 Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon - UK 1973 - 43 260 23
Maybe the single lp that was most in people's record
collections back in the 70's.  Famous for being part of
teenagers and illicit smoking activity.  Not really my favorite
in any sense but, well, it had such a big impact on the culture.

338/28 Stevie Wonder - Innervisions - U.S. 1973 - 23 261 42 My second
favorite lp by him.  Nearly as brilliant as Music of my Mind.
More common to find this in everyone's home than Music of
       my Mind lp, oddly.

339/29 The Cars - The Cars - U.S. 1978 - 282 262 6 Another amazing
debut lp.  They were never this great again.  Another lp that
was in everyone's home in the late 70's, early 80's, that I knew.
Good transition rock from Beatles/Stones to a more modern
rock sound along with Cheap Trick.

340/29 Earth, Wind and Fire - That's the Way of the World - U.S.
       1975 - 493 263 16 I loved them back in the day.  Haven't heard
       a note since.

341/29 Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison - U.S. 1968 - 88 264 12 Either
this or At San Quinten.  Just got the full concert and turns
out the songs that were originally deleted from the first
release were spirituals.  I think he felt those spirituals even
more as he got older and, of course, closer to death, the
eventual destination of all our paths, oddly enough.

342/30 Pink Floyd - Ummagumma - UK 1969 - - 254 17 This was always
my favorite lp by them mostly cuz of that song, 'Careful with
that ax Eugene' which went real low and slow then blew up
which was another in a series of rock songs that previewed
my love for punk.  Like the Beatles' 'I hear it's your Birthday'
and 'Why Don't we do it in the Road' both fairly punkish and
       I loved 'em.

343/30 Tim Buckley – Happy Sad 1974? U.S.  This singer/songwriter
was special.  A voice like no other.  Got to be quite experimental
musically and it didn’t endear him to the masses.  This is not
experimental.  There’s two songs on here that are sublime.
The father of Jeff Buckley.  Tim snorted some heroin thinking it
      was cocaine.  It wasn’t.

344/30 Talking Heads – Fear of Music 1996? U.S. I was forced to add this to
the list.  ‘Air’ and another song are songs that, today, draw me to
this album.  It’s satisfying in a way that no other album is.  TH
went somewhere musically that’s not even a place they went.  It’s
a musically satisfying place that’s surprising for them and no one
else has taken me there.  I like it there.
